Dear Perry School Community: I am pleased to announce that I am naming Mr. Andrew Rollins Principal of the Perry School effective July 1, 2022. Mr. Rollins’ appointment is the culmination of a screening process with participation by members of the Perry community, including several staff members, parents and guardians. Mr. Rollins is excited to assume leadership at the Perry in order to serve in the South Boston Community, where he resides and where he previously taught for six years. Mr. Rollins resides in South Boston with his wife and three children. Mr. Rollins is a veteran Boston school leader. He has served as principal of the Mildred Avenue K-8 School for the last eight years - leading its turnaround from one of the lowest performing schools in the state to becoming Mattapan’s first Level One school. The Mildred Avenue won the School on the Move Prize in SY17-18. Mr. Rollins is a committed, thoughtful leader, who is eager to bring the school to the next level, in addition to his previous teaching experience in South Boston. Mr. Rollins’ resume can be found here. I also want to thank Principal Michael Macchi for providing steady leadership through the Pandemic. I am proud of the smooth transition from a K-8 to a K-6 school, cultivation of partnerships, continuous learning of staff, and increasing inclusive opportunities. I know that he will work closely with Mr. Rollins to ensure a smooth transition. I sincerely wish Mr. Macchi the best in his future endeavors. Please join me in congratulating Mr. Rollins as he assumes this position of leadership at the Perry. With full support from all of us at the Boston Public Schools, I know Principal Rollins will continue to build upon the strengths of the Perry School. Sincerely, Dr. Brenda Cassellius Superintendent
